Strangers At the Mall: Something that just occurred to me about this scene...
When Watson is parroting Moriarty’s words, he speaks in an incredibly flat voice.
I always saw that as an act of defiance—the only one he had access to at that moment.
But it just occurred to me HOW MUCH of an act of defiance that was.
Because you just KNOW the actual…
Hello followers, non-followers, tumblrinos and internet noobs,
If you would be so kind, I require your assistance. Your input. I wish to harness the power of the internet by using you, the reader, to help me, the writer, with a rather daunting school project. Here’s the lowdown; as part of my A level year at school I am doing an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is basically a mini thesis. Yes, it’s long and requires a lot of tedious bibliographing and citing and sourcing but there are two main pro points:
1) I am creating a prettiful magazine that I will post online,
2) The magazine will be all about fan culture on the internet! You can now see why I am posting this on tumblr. So, I have enthusiasm for the project, and the resources and ideas, but what I really need is the research. That’s where you come in.
I have put together a list of questions that I need answers to to find out the necessary information for the articles. These fit into two categories; short and rambling. The short questions are exactly as they sound; mini questions that will ask you about your participation in fan culture, membership of fandoms and usage of internet. They can be answered totally anonymously, but feel free to leave your name or url if you so desire. The rambling questions…. well, I need all you writers to flock around, please. These will be definitions, or long reasons, and please do not be afraid to ramble on and on. I’ll be taking sections from these (nothing out of context, of course) to put into my articles; for instance, looking at how a fandom is defined by its members. You can answer either or both of these lists of questions, anon or not.

Rambling: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/s.asp?sid=wsj1asbjmksvnsl108705Next up (and I think this is the trickier bit) are the interviews. As much as I would like to interview everyone, I’m really focusing on the growth of fan culture. Therefore, I would like to get some interviews from anybody who is part of an organisation, group or project set up through fan culture; for example, the Baker Street Babes or the Harry Potter Alliance. If you are part of an organisation like this or think you know of one that might be right for this part, please please please let me know.
Finally, if you’re interested in the project, you can follow its progress at angelas-epq.tumblr.com, and fandom-mag.tumblr.com, where the final magazine pages will be posted. However this won’t be until about November earliest, as I need to get research in first! You can also like and reblog this post, and I’ll be doing angelas-epq follower exclusive giveaways to say thank you for helping me out. If you have done any of the options above, I send you virtual hugs and a certificate for being a truly awesome person. This is a really big project for me; it’s the equivalent to an A level. It’s also part of my portfolio for art college, so I really want to make it good.
Thank you thank you thank you for reading this,
Angela (dreamsoffools) :)
